Pub Style Beer Cheese Dip with Fresh Pretzel Bread!

We saved the best for last on this fabulous double dippin’ Friday! It’s hard to tell which was better, the beer infused cheese dip or the deliciously fresh pretzel bread, but when the two are combined, an overwhelming sense of peace warms the soul – and then comes the urge to grab the rest and run. Sharing is caring though, so we left a little for others to taste (with a time limit, of course).

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and whisk in the flour. Cook, whisking constantly for 2 to 3 minutes, being careful not to brown the flour. Whisk in mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until smooth. Add beer and whisk to combine. Pour in cream and whisk until well combined and smooth. Gradually add cheese, stirring constantly, until cheese melts and sauce is smooth; this will take 4 to 5 minutes. Add hot sauce. Serve with slices of pretzel bread and sautéed leeks!final

Drink It!

There’s going to be a little left over porter while cooking and it would be a shame to let it go to waste…

Listen to It!

A little Flogging Molly on Pandora reminded us of being in a pub – minus the bar fights and endless dart games.
